Site Feature: Add headers, lists, and bullet points to achievement guides

By Rich Stone,
A way to upload guides to unlocking achievements was the first feature that was added to TrueAchievements way back in 2008. Since then, an incredible 350,000 achievement guides have been posted on the site, covering over 90% of the achievements in games that have at least 1,000 players.

The interface to post achievement guides has remained relatively untouched since we added a way to include your game clips and screenshots in 2015. Today, though, we've just put live a way for you to add more style to your guides, including headers, bullet points, and numbered lists.

Using the additional formatting tools

Now when you create or edit an achievement guide, you'll see some extra buttons on the formatting toolbar.

Clicking on either of the H's will insert header markdown. Put the text you want in the header between the open and close tags for the header. You can also highlight the text you want to emphasise before clicking the H and the tags will be placed around the text automatically.

You can also easily add bullet points or numbered lists — click the appropriate button and put each item you want bulletted or numbered on its own line inside the markdown tags and the output will format automatically.

We took an existing guide and edited it using some of the new tags to demonstrate some of the new formatting options.

Check back tomorrow for the next new feature of Community Month!

Yo! Rich here - I was the one that created TrueAchievements back in 2008 as I felt the Xbox Gamerscore system could be improved. The site has evolved massively since then and it's now the biggest and best Xbox community on the planet! Racing games and open world shooters are my thing, but I'll give most genres a go. Except RPGs - those things are evil.
