Multiple Battlefield games to be delisted and shut down, Mirror's Edge to remain on store

By Sean Carey,

EA has announced it is shutting down and delisting multiple games from the Xbox store soon, including Battlefield: Bad Company. [Updated]

Update:
It appears that EA made a mistake in its original announcement, and Mirror's Edge will not be delisted from digital storefronts in April.

Original Story:
Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Mirror's Edge will all be removed from digital storefronts, starting April 28th. Online services will also close in these games on December 8th.

EA to delist and shutdown three Battlefield games

Battlefield 1943

"Starting April 28th, 2023, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital storefronts, and you will no longer be able to purchase them," EA announced in a statement on its website. "This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles, which will happen on December 8th, 2023." For Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single-player campaign."

Once the server closure hits on December 8th, the entirety of Battlefield 1943's achievement list will be discontinued, 20 achievements will be discontinued in Battlefield: Bad Company, and 42 achievements will be discontinued in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (though some are already partly discontinued/unobtainable). Mirror's Edge features no online achievements, so you should still be able to complete that one after the server closure. For games with online achievements, it might be worth setting up a few Gaming Sessions to work through the affected achievements with other TA users, if that's possible in these games.

Oddly, a server shutdown for Mirror's Edge was previously announced for January 19th, 2023, so we're not too sure what's going on here.
