Developer Team Cherry has shared an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong, revealing that the highly anticipated Metroidvania sequel has been delayed.

As revealed on Twitter by Team Cherry's Matthew Griffin, Hollow Knight: Silksong (one of 2023's biggest games coming to Game Pass) was originally supposed to launch in the first half of the year, but according to Griffin, the Hollow Knight sequel has "gotten quite big," and has now been delayed.

"We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing," Griffin said. "We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release."

Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced as a day one Xbox Game Pass title during last year's Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. According to the developer, Silksong will feature a new kingdom to explore where Hornet will battle against "vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to her nature and her past."
