Game Pass' Humankind receives console delay, Sega issues refunds

By Tom West,

Humankind, the turn-based strategy game from Amplitude Studios, has had its console launch and entry into Xbox Game Pass delayed "until further notice." Sega is issuing refunds to players who have preordered it digitally.

Sega has announced that "due to some unique challenges," Amplitude Studios has had to delay the launch of Humankind on console, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Game Pass. It looks like it could be a while until we see it on console, as Sega has said that players who preordered the game on digital storefronts will receive refunds.

Humankind: Together We Rule expansion still coming to PC on November 9th

"We apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured that Sega Europe, Amplitude Studios, and Aspyr are working hard to bring the best possible Humankind experience to console players," the announcement says. "We can’t give a timeframe on a new release date right now, but as soon as we are in a position to do so, we will let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding."

Humankind was set to join Xbox Game Pass on November 9th but for now, you'll need to play the Windows version if you'd like to get involved. It's available with PC Game Pass, and since its entry into the service in August 2021, exactly zero TA members have managed to unlock all of the Humankind achievements out of the 14,000 of you to start it due to five unobtainable achievements. With any luck, they'll be fixed when the game's first major expansion, Together We Rule, launches on November 9th.
