Payday 3 closed beta begins today on Xbox for selected Insiders

The Payday 3 Closed Beta starts today with Xbox Insiders on Xbox Series X|S given a chance to join on a first-come first-served basis. [updated]

Update: The technical closed beta is live now. "This is a technical test, so we won’t have room for everyone. We want to test our servers and the game’s stability when full of actual heisters. We’ll be starting off with only 5000 people with more to come," the Payday team says. You'll get an email if you've been selected to join in the beta, with spots for Xbox players having been handed out on a first-come first-served basis since last week, and can find the beta for Payday 3 under "Previews" in the Xbox Insider Hub.

Original story: The Closed Beta for Payday 3 starts on August 2 and runs until August 7. If you're an Xbox Insider on Xbox Series X|S, you could be in with a chance to join in on it. You can try for a spot by heading to the Xbox Insider Hub app on your Xbox Series X|S, going to the Payday 3 Beta under "Previews," and choosing "Join." You'll get an email if you're selected (selections are random) and if you manage to get a spot, you can go back to the Xbox Insider Hub and install the game on August 2.

The beta is first-come first-served, although more spots will become available as the weekend progresses, and the Xbox team says you can try again then.

"Payday 3 is still under development and this beta is a part of the development process. Due to this, your experience might be affected. Please remember that this beta does not represent the final game. The game can be unstable at times, or even crash, due to us testing our infrastructure’s capabilities. You might also experience slow matchmaking times or disconnects. As this only represents a part of the game, your progression will not be saved and transferred to the released product." Any issues you do find can be shared through the "Report a problem" feature.

Along with progression not carrying over from the beta to the full game, the content of the Payday 3 beta is also limited. " This is a slice of the full game containing only one heist and four heisters. Most, but not all, weaponry and cosmetics are included. There’s also a level cap of infamy level 22, meaning that not all skill points will be available during the beta," the Payday 3 team says.

The Closed Beta begins on August 2.
