Popular Xbox games — April 11th, 2023

By Luke Albigés,

This week's Xbox Gameplay Chart of the most popular Xbox games doesn't show a whole lot of movement, although there is one notable surprise as Marvel's Avengers soars back into the top 20.

There's no change at all in the top five of this week's chart, with the usual suspects still sitting pretty, albeit with Fortnite continuing to close the gap in player count with Modern Warfare II at the top week-on-week. Forza Horizon 5 also holds steady in fifth as players keep heading back to Mexico, whether to finish up the Rally Adventure DLC or perhaps using this fresh series to finally go for the Min, Meet Max achievement.

Below, we see some minor reshuffling going on but there's not a huge amount of action until we reach the tail end of the top 20, where Marvel's Avengers makes an explosive re-entry thanks to a combination of an associated Game Pass Quest and the fact that the devs unlocked all cosmetic items for free with the action-RPG's final update before it is delisted and support ends in September. Game Pass Quests also helped make Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 the second of just three re-entries this week just outside the top 30, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being the third right down in 40th.

Resident Evil 4, meanwhile, continues to hold its ground in the lower end of the top 20, but the PlayStation Gameplay Chart over on TrueTrophies shows Capcom's remake to be faring much better over there, unmoving this week in the top five — the fact that there's a last-gen version available will certainly be helping matters there, as will the fact that Resi has long been associated with PlayStation since the original game debuted on the first PlayStation console.

No new entries at all this week, surprisingly, with Game Pass newcomer Loop Hero only just missing out on forcing its way into the top 40 (check out our Loop Hero first impressions to see why you should give it a try and help it maybe hit the chart next week), while EA Sports PGA Tour seemingly landed in the rough after last week's launch, scraping in at the lower end of the top 100 so way outside of chart territory. This week's minor movement means only three games tap out of the top 40 — Far Cry 5 (boosted last week by a Free Play Days weekend), along with Hellblade and Outriders, both of which sink without a trace after the Quests that pushed them back up got cycled out for new ones.

Here's the top 40 in full... have a great week, and let us know your thoughts on this week's action down in the comments!
