Popular Xbox games — April 17th, 2023

By Luke Albigés,

This week's Xbox Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games sees Ghostwire: Tokyo give the top ten a scare but not quite manage to break in, while Forza Horizon spins out of the top 10 as its Rally Adventure DLC runs out of gas.

It's another week where the top five sees little action, with the one change in the top flight being Rainbow Six Siege sliding up into fifth to replace Forza Horizon 5 as it crashes to 11th, with a lot of players seemingly done with the Rally Adventure DLC and ready to move on. The rest of the top ten is a complete reshuffle, with a mix of ups and downs compared to last week's positions, with the only newcomer being Overwatch 2, getting a two-spot bump with the arrival of its fourth season to push it back into the top ten.

Just outside, Tango Gameworks' Ghostwire: Tokyo just misses out on a top-ten spot itself after finally arriving on Xbox a year after launching as a PlayStation exclusive. Aside from the newly-overtaken Forza, Ghostwire slots into a pretty static top 20, with minimal movement until just outside with the return of Monster Hunter Rise... the power of Game Pass Quests does it again. Fellow Quest title Descenders also saw a solid boost to return in 33rd, with that much lower placement likely due to the task being a bit more involved than Rise's simple 'play' one. As for last week's Quest stars, they're currently residing in the 'Where are they now?' file, with Garden Warfare 2 taking a 50-place drop to fall way off the list while Marvel's Avengers gets snapped all the way out of the top 100 as it enters its own endgame.

This week's only other newcomer is NHL 23, just managing to sneak in in 40th after joining EA Play and Game Pass Ultimate last week. Aside from the predictable plummet of the previous Quests titles, three other games tap out of the top 40 this week, although with the trio in the 41-43 spots, they're clearly not ready to go just yet — have we seen the last of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Atomic Heart, or will they be back? Let us know what you think down in the comments, and have a splendid week!
