Popular Xbox games — January 16th, 2023

Our latest Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games sees Overwatch 2 drop out of the top five, while older titles reappear further down the chart.

The top five of our latest Gameplay Chart is once again refusing to budge this week, aside from FIFA 23 jumping up one spot to fifth while Overwatch 2 drops two spots to seventh. We haven't yet started to get into the major releases of 2023 so perhaps it's not too surprising to see nothing having managed to take down Modern Warfare II, Fortnite, and Minecraft. There are some big games coming to Game Pass soon, however, so we might see some changes at least in the top 20. In this week's chart, there's the usual hubbub of titles moving up or down a few spaces or else switching places until we get to 17th, where Elden Ring holds on, followed by FIFA 22 at 18th and Madden NFL 23 at 19th. Just below, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order re-joins the top 40 at 22nd. Its sequel is out in March, but it seems likely that most players flocked back to Fallen Order as it was included in the latest Xbox Game Pass Quests. Lower down we see The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition — which also resides on our list of the best games on Game Pass — at 27th. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, meanwhile, has dropped six places to 31st; this often seems to happen with Game Pass titles, presumably as players move onto something else. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition has also had a bit of a fall, dropping seven places to 36th. Then there's our next reappearance, with Smite at 37th. This week's disappearances are Cyberpunk 2077 and Let's Build a Zoo.

Looking ahead, we have a number of big games to look forward to, including Game Pass additions like Monster Hunter Rise, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden, as well as launches like Dead Space later in the month.
