Popular Xbox games — January 30th, 2023

By Heidi Nicholas,

Our latest Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games sees GoldenEye 007 breaking into the top five while EA's Dead Space remake just breaks into the top 40.

This week's Gameplay Chart sees the debut appearances of some of last week's major launches: first up is GoldenEye 007, which made it to fifth place just days after the remaster launched into Xbox Game Pass on January 27th. Monster Hunter Rise, which was in fifth place last week (itself having been a recent Game Pass launch), has been bumped down to eighth. Overwatch 2 is just clinging onto its spot in the top ten at tenth, while just below, surprise Game Pass launch Hi-Fi Rush has made its first appearance at 11th after it was shadow dropped during Xbox and Bethesda's Developer Direct showcase on January 25th.

We then have a big wave of games dropping down the chart to make room for the new releases before another debut appearance pops up: Omori's first appearance is at 29th after its inclusion in the latest weekly Xbox Game Pass Quests. Likewise, Stardew Valley has made it to 31st after it too was included in those weekly quests. Towards the bottom of the chart we have two final new appearances: Dead Space at 37th and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition at 39th. Dead Space is something of a surprise; the remake launched on January 27th as a highly-anticipated release and met with glowing reviews, so it's interesting to see it just manage to break into the top 40. Last is Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition making its first appearance at 39th, perhaps as players get some time in with it before the console version also arrives with Game Pass tomorrow. This week's disappearances are Vampire Survivors, Grounded, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Prodeus, Madden NFL 22, and For Honor.

Looking ahead, we have all the games coming to Game Pass with several Game Pass launches scheduled over the next few days, plus big launches like Deliver Us Mars and Wild Hearts — what do you think will be in the top ten next week? How long will GoldenEye 007 manage to stay in the top five? Let us know what you think in the comments!
