Popular Xbox games: March 27th, 2023

By Heidi Nicholas,

Our latest Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games shows Resident Evil 4 break into the top 20 while Hogwarts Legacy and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty fall still further — check out the full list here!

The top five remains unmoved, as does most of the rest of the top ten, with the exception of Roblox and Rocket League swapping places at sixth and seventh. Further down the chart, however, we see more movement: Hogwarts Legacy continues to fall, dropping two places this week to 14th, with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty likewise falling two spaces from 15th to 17th. Sea of Thieves, on the other hand, has hopped up two spots to 18th, most likely as players dive into Season Nine's content. Rare also recently shared a list of its top five rarest achievements in Sea of Thieves — here's how they rank on TrueAchievements. Just below, we see this week's first new appearance with Resident Evil 4 at 19th. Since the remake has only been out for a few days, we'll likely see it fight its way higher up the chart next week — take a look at Luke's Resident Evil 4 review to see why he thinks it's a "killer remake." Elden Ring, meanwhile, just added ray tracing on Xbox Series X with a new update, which might explain why it's jumped two spaces up to 23rd.

On the other hand, Atomic Heart has fallen six spots to 24th, most likely as players move onto more games coming to Game Pass. Just below is this week's only reappearance, with A Plague Tale: Requiem at 26th after being included in the latest Xbox Game Pass Weekly Quests. Then we have our second new appearance with Cities: Skylines Remastered, which had its first free update last week. Far Cry 5, meanwhile, has managed to haul itself up from 40th to 32nd — it's had a lot going on recently, with a free 60fps update on Xbox Series X|S, its DLC expansion going free for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, and lastly it having featured in the latest round of Free Play Days. Civ VI, which joined Game Pass earlier in the month, has dropped ten spots to 34th, again presumably as a result of players moving onto other titles. And it's almost the end of the line for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, which has fallen five spots to 40th. It's interesting to note, too, that we're yet to see any sign of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - The Prince's Edition in the top 40, despite it joining Game Pass last week.

Looking ahead, we could see some big changes coming to the chart — Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake could forge higher up the chart, while MLB The Show 23 joins Game Pass tomorrow. What do you think will make it to the top ten next? Let us know in the comments!
