Popular Xbox games — May 14, 2023

By Sean Carey,

In this week's Xbox Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games, Redfall has taken a big tumble down the table, while a big update for Fall Guys sees those bumbling beans race back into the top 20.

At the top, we have several movers and shakers this week. The biggest change we see in the top ten comes from Redfall, which debuted in our chart last week in third and has now slid all the way down to 13th position. It seems that while Arkane's latest was enough to grab a fair portion of the Xbox playerbase's attention, Redfall isn't doing enough to keep those players interested and coming back for more. Elsewhere, we see Apex Legends rocket up the table seven places, following the start of its 17th season, which introduced a new Legend.

Moving on down, Fall Guys has made a huge nine-place to jump to 19th. Last week, Mediatonic rolled out a big update for Fall Guys — one of the best free Xbox games — that added a mode which allows players to create their own levels, and it seems to have worked, with players coming back in their droves. Dead Island 2 has also shuffled its way down the chart after a successful launch (as is the case with most single player games) and has now been temporarily laid to rest in 20th position.

At the bottom of the chart, not too much of note has happened other than a whopping five games reentering our table! Guilty Gear has reentered in 23rd place, thanks to Xbox Game Pass Quests, and Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, NHL 23, and For Honor have all taken up a spot each right at the bottom.

As for next week, it's likely we'll see FIFA 23 slide tackle its way up the chart when it drops it drops into Game Pass soon, and we'll probably see the likes of Lego 2K Drive and free-to-play racing game Trackmania also occupy a couple of spots.
