Developer Frogwares has delayed Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened by a few weeks due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Upcoming detective adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened has been delayed from its February/early March release window to late March/April, due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened has been delayed

In an update on the game's Steam page and in a video posted to YouTube, Frogwares said that development of the game had been challenging due to the war and that the last five months had been "extremely difficult" for the team, resulting in Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened missing its release window.

"Unfortunately, the relentless strikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine have forced us to work around continual blackouts and redo the entire production pipeline," Frogwares said. "Due to the effects of the ongoing war in Ukraine, we need a few more weeks to finish Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. We are forced to move the release date for the game to late March / April 2023.

"We’ve been trying really hard to make our planned release window, but the near-daily interruptions of electricity, on top of the missile attacks that come every ten days or so, meant we had to replan everything. It also means the game itself has been impacted too, not just the schedule. But we’ll do our best and push on as much as we can. Once we feel we are maybe a month away from release, we’ll be able to announce our exact release date."

Frogwares is one of several developers in Ukraine impacted by Russia's invasion. Metro developer 4A Games is currently working on various projects, including the next Metro game, while GSC Gameworld continues to develop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Earlier this week, Doom and Wolfenstein composer Mick Gordon announced he was donating his fee for his work on Atomic Heart to the Australian Red Cross' Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
