Respawn looks to be developing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel already

By Tom West,

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor developer Respawn Entertainment is currently hiring, and the descriptions look to suggest that the next game is in development.

Two new job listings on EA's careers portal are looking for people to join the Star Wars team at Respawn Entertainment, potentially for a Star Wars Jedi sequel. Seeing as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched to favorable reviews in April (we thought it a "worthy sequel" in our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor impressions), there is a reasonable chance EA has already green-lit a follow-up game.

EA is hiring for the "Star Wars team"

As reported by Tech4Gamers, the EA careers portal has job listings for a senior VFX artist and senior combat designer. The second listing is hiring for the "Star Wars team" at Respawn Entertainment, while the VFX listing specifically name-drops Star Wars Jedi, and interestingly, asks candidates to have experience with "Unreal Engine 4; Unreal Engine 5 is a big plus."

Back in March, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's game director, Stig Asmussen, said "I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?" Interestingly, and in line with the VFX position Respawn is hoping to fill above, Asmussen also said that "it's a pretty safe assumption" that the next Star Wars Jedi game would be developed in Unreal Engine 5.

Of course, this isn't proof that a sequel is in development, but our hopes are high. EA boss Andrew Wilson said that he was "overjoyed" with Survivor's reception, so we'd be surprised if at the very least talks aren't happening.
