April is coming to a close, and we hope you’ve had a good time infiltrating those Soviet-era Siberian missile bases in GoldenEye 007, but it’s time to finish up that martini and blast off for a new adventure in May’s TA Playlist game of the month.For May, we decided to offer up another Second Chance month, selecting four contenders that had been previously nominated but lost the vote. We pulled a mix of games from different genres and styles from across the last six years of TA Playlist – South Park: The Stick of Truth, Maneater, ReCore, and Dying Light – and brought them back for another shot.The votes were surprisingly steady throughout the polling period, with the contenders quickly separating themselves by about 50-60 votes between each place and never really changing much from there. If you followed along with the comments, you might have guessed which game took the early lead. The TA Playlist Game for May 2023 is… ReCore!ReCore is a third-person shooter featuring platforming and Metroidvania elements. Developed by Comcept and Armature Studio, with assistance from Asobo Studio, the title was published by Xbox Game Studios in 2016 to mixed reviews, but a Definitive Edition update was released a year later, adding new content and new achievements, and addressing many of the criticisms of the original release. It was previously nominated for TA Playlist in March 2019, where it came in a close second to L.A. Noire.Set 200 years in the future, Joule Adams is one of the last remaining humans on the planet Far Eden, a mysterious and dangerous world controlled by robotic foes bent on your destruction. To survive, you must forge friendships with a courageous group of Corebot companions, each with unique abilities and powers. Explore the world, raid dungeons, and uncover the mysteries of Far Eden.ReCore currently holds a 3.65/5.00 community rating on TA. Over 207,000 tracked gamers have played it, and around 2,500 (1%) have unlocked the 73 achievements required for full completion, which is estimated to take 48-60 hours for the Definitive Edition. None of the achievements are marked as missable, but the site’s walkthrough can help you make the most of your time on Far Eden. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass.Here’s the full breakdown of the votes. While the numbers ticked up steadily over the course of the poll, the relative positions were remarkably consistent throughout, with ReCore pulling out to a 50-vote lead over South Park early on and never really losing any ground.
