TrueAchievements Responsive Website FAQ

By Rich Stone,

Why have you updated the website?

We've been maintaining two separate versions of the website for over 7 years now - one for mobile users and one for desktop users. The mobile site, while fast and light, has been lacking many of the useful features that make the desktop site so great. In fact, many of our users use the desktop version of the site even when on their mobile devices, just so that they have access to all the features. This is not a great user experience as it involves a lot of zooming and scrolling around the page to click on links and buttons.

By creating a single, responsive site, we can give everyone the same great TrueAchievements experience irrespective of the size of the device they are using.

The new site is also highly optimized for speed - it loads even faster than the old mobile site did, even with all the desktop features enabled.

What is this new menu that comes out when I click my Gamerpic?

That is the new Gamer Menu - read all about it here.

Where are all my links?

The most common links (My games, My game collection, My achievements) are on the Home tab of your Gamer Menu, and the rest of your personal links and the help and support pages are on the Links tab of your Gamer Menu.

I miss the red/green highlighting of the achievements to show when I've won them or not

You can get those coloured backgrounds back by turning on the Highlight achievement won status setting on the Settings tab of your Gamer Menu.

I can't see achievement flags any more

On smaller screens we've hidden some of the less used information, but by rotating your device to landscape mode you'll get it back, or you can set your device to always be in Desktop mode by changing the setting on the Settings tab of the gamer menu.

How do I update my score?

You can either click the refresh icon on the Home tab of your Gamer Menu, or select Request update from the dropdown menu next to your Gamerpic on your gamer page.

Can I switch back to the old design?

Unfortunately not - one of the main reasons for making the website is to avoid us having to update two sites every time we want to add a new feature. Maintaining three sites would obviously make that situation even worse.

Where did the tabs go on the top of the game and gamer pages?

On small devices, we've collapsed the menu down to a dropdown list at the top of the page. Just click the dropdown to see the missing tabs.

How have you chosen the background image on my gamer page?

This is the main image from the most recent game you've played.

I have some duplicate entries in the notifications tab and the messages tab

We'll be fixing those dupes in the coming few days, as well as adding some new notification types and options to enable/disable them.

How do I log out of the website?

Click on the padlock at the bottom of the Gamer Menu.

Yo! Rich here - I was the one that created TrueAchievements back in 2008 as I felt the Xbox Gamerscore system could be improved. The site has evolved massively since then and it's now the biggest and best Xbox community on the planet! Racing games and open world shooters are my thing, but I'll give most genres a go. Except RPGs - those things are evil.
