Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Xbox Series X|S release delayed

By Sean Carey,

Developer Fatshark has delayed Warhammer 40,000 Darktide for Xbox Series X|S after admitting the PC version of the game "fell short" of expectations.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (which is currently available to play on PC with PC Game Pass) has been delayed on Xbox Series X|S as Fatshark says it "fell short" when trying to create a "highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours."

"We take enormous pride in our ability at Fatshark to deliver a game that millions can enjoy," Fatshark wrote. "This was what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – to create a highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours. We fell short of meeting those expectations."

Fatshark says that over the next few months, it will focus on addressing feedback provided by the community: "In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimisation." With Fatshark focusing on these key areas in the game, the developer has had to delay the Xbox Series X|S version of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

"This also means that we will delay our seasonal content rollout and the Xbox Series X|S launch," Fatshark said. "We will also suspend the upcoming release of premium cosmetics. We just couldn't continue down this path knowing that we have not addressed many feedback areas in the game today."

Fatshark hasn't announced a release date for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on Xbox Series X|S, but as soon as we find out more, we'll let you know. The first-person shooter will launch into Game Pass when it eventually does get a release date — be sure to check out our list of other confirmed games coming to Game Pass in the future.
